Fun and GAMES at MWC 2012

March 1, 2012 - 12:06 PM

No mobile event would be complete without getting to grips with the latest and greatest gaming tech…

We’ve seen it all here: augmented reality on PlayStation Vita; connected gameplay across PS3, Xperia smartphones and Sony tablets and even a five-a-side soccer game using Lego robots controlled by Xperia U’s!

And no, I’m not kidding (especially on the latter) – check out our video for a taste of what’s been on show!

Call us biased, but as part of the Sony family there’s exciting times ahead for gamers, casual and hardcore, throughout 2012 and beyond. So keep posted and we will be sharing more…

I recalled how mad I am at you Sony when I read “augmented reality on PlayStation Vita”. I ran a HEN on my PSP 3004 to run some community made apps (the best thing to do in every platform), but when I followed some wrong instructions and replaced a wrong file with ‘version.txt’ file, I got stuck with the most expensive piece of plastic on the world!

And although my PSP still boots up, and I can still use “Triangle + Square + Start + Select” and set up some configurations, when the XMB starts to show I see a red screen saying that a serious error has occurred, and it doesn’t allow me to do anything but changing the screen brightness!! I mean “C’MON! Sony! It’s Open Source -ity what makes every piece of technology awesome! It’s what makes us not feel bored with our devices! I’m a developer myself, and I was starting to make some good apps using the unofficial PSP SDK!”

I have spent more than 652 Euros on my PSP! I bought lots of games, and bought each and every accessory, I have always taken care of my devices! I also have a Sony Ericsson phone, and a Sony MP4 Player! BUT THEN, when I go to the official Sony customer service in Egypt, they tell me that they will have to send it to Dubai, and it will cost more than 95 Euros!! How can I trust Sony after that?! Please think of it as an end-user! My PSP is still so new and shiny! I have lots of UMDs waiting for a driver to read them! I also bought the PSP Cam a few weeks before this accident..

I contacted Sony by email and they replied: “We can’t help you outside the UK!” is that even legit? Was it THAT big mistake what I did when I tried to run something other than games on my super powerful device?!!! Please find me a solution! I’ve always believed Sony is the best to understand what end-users really want! And DON’T tell me to contact someone or go to somewhere! I need a real solution, I need you to give me instructions on how to re-install the latest firmware on my PSP! Don’t say “Sorry”, because you actually made the device and know how to fix it! Also, don’t tell me to read the EULA one more time.. And don’t tell me that you’re Sony Mobile and have nothing to do with Sony PlayStation, because you’re one company, and I know you can contact each other, and maybe you can do some sort of a connector between Sony PlayStation and me, because I have done my best trying to talk to them! I’ll be buying a new Xperia smartphone soon too, so please don’t disappoint me!

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long story!

Hi Muhannad, apologies for the delay in responding, we have all been travelling back to our respective homes post MWC. As your issue is quite detailed we will need some time to look into it. Please bear with us!

If it’s that hard to tell me how to repair my device’s software, then please teach your *authorized* service centers in Egypt how to do it. Or tell them to replace the whole device for me. And not tell me that repairing its software will cost me more than buying a new one.

I need a solution! It’s been 15 days since I posted my first comment!
