Looking back at Mobile World Congress 2012, and forward as One Sony
Well, MWC is over and what a week it was – I can safely say the fun far outweighed the fatigue!
Attending as Sony for the first time, we announced two new additions to our Xperia NXT series; Xperia P and Xperia U, and gave booth-goers the chance to Play, Create, Watch and Listen with all of our devices.
What’s more, we picked up a couple of awards along the way – Xperia S and Sony Xperia P SmartDock were named in both Tom’s Hardware and Laptop Magazine’s ‘Best of MWC’ – awards that recognise the innovative products of MWC week.
I’ve convinced the Xperia blog team to share their key highlights…
Will
It would have to be the interconnectivity of our Sony devices, allowing folks to effortlessly to share and watch content across platforms however, whenever, wherever suits them – whether it be gaming on your Vita against someone on their PS3, flicking photos and video from your Xperia smartphone to your TV, or channelling music or movies via Sony Entertainment Network from my Sony tablet to all of the above devices! I think this integrated ecosystem of devices is truly the way forward in how we access and consume content.
Clare
So many to choose from, but for me – augmented reality gaming on PlayStation Vita! I’m a hard-to-please gamer, but there really are exciting times ahead for our thumb-warriors this year
Me (Ant)
I’m close to saying: kicking off MWC with our Sunday 26th press conference with a buzzing packed house at Palau Sant Jordi… but the geek in me knows it was the Lego robot football game controlled using Xperia U – now that was cool!
We hope you enjoyed the content and got a taste of MWC and the Sony booth – we’ll continue to answer any questions you might have, and you can look forward to us bringing you all the latest news, announcements and hands-on experiences from Sony Mobile Communications
Over and out.

With reference to Will’s comment of integration of Sony devices, that is of course good, but what about integration with devices from other manufactures? I don’t think it is wise of Sony to create a separate ecosystem, where all the devices need to be Sony devices in order do interact. This is what Apple has done, and it makes it real hard when not all devices are from Apple. I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia x10i and an Apple iPad 2 (both in connection with work), and they do not communicate. If I had had an iPhone and an iPad 2, there would have been no such problems. I sincerely hope that Sony does not create a similar mess.

Hey Kjetil – thanks for the comment.
You’ll be able to sync an Xperia NXT series smartphone with any product supporting the latest Bluetooth, WiFi, DNLA and connectivity industry standards. As a quick example, Xperia S will connect via HDMI to any HD TV, and the interface can then be controlled by most remotes, not just Sony.
Also, did you see our ‘Bridge Software’ post a few weeks back?(http://blogs-stage.sonymobile.com/2012/01/31/are-you-a-mac-user) – it allows Mac users to sync content to their Xperia smartphone.
Hope that’s useful!
