Right about now – Xperia™ S shipping globally

Guys,

We just wanted to let you know that our first Sony smartphone, Xperia S, is shipping globally as I type this.

We’re giving local operators the chance to tell you about specific availability and pricing in individual markets, so please drop them a line for the latest info!

Also, thanks again for all your questions and comments – we’ll be running a weekly roundup every Friday to cover off any popular or mutual themes, so give us a shout if there’s anything you want to raise :)

    I ordered online this phone on march 3rd, when was expected to be released on march 5th.
    Neither now the phone is available.
    I hope to be surprised with a gift: an ice cream sandwich

      So much for a Global launch being a global launch. None of the providers, Sony stores or Sony Canada have a clue if and when this phone will be available. Wanted to pick it up to add to my stable of an X10 and 2 Arc’s. Might have to get an HTC One S if there is no more news within the week for us. :(

        its already april 2012…. dual core processors are phasing out…quad cores r already being launched in india….Sony is looked upon for quality.. but i must say that sony took a loy of time launching this phone… when is d xperia P goin to b launched?

    Globally means the 5 European countries only….Samsung is selling more Galaxy S II in north America as I speak than all of Sony’s phones combined GLOBALLY….Jeez Sony when will you get with the times? it’s 2012 for god’s sake…..You guys need a new marketing directors cause clearly they’re to slow for today’s mobile market,…GLOBALLY

    I have found a bug in a software in Sony Xperia S . During a phone call every 3 minutes called party can not hear me for 5-7 seconds. I can hear very well. Coverage perfect for both of us, also I was using hands – free or not, does not matter (no microphone issue). :(

    Hi Anthony,
    I’ve some suggestions after some months of following on Xperia S updates. I hope this is a worthy feedback to be passed to the product dept:
    - Present battery technology is still not matured enough to keep a smartphone actively useful throughout the day. This is especially when charging spot is rarely available, and portable battery chargers are a burden to bring along. I wish every future smartphone to maintain removable battery.
    - A smartphone is meant to simplify life, data cables, adapters, USB thumb-drive, Bluetooth technology does not substitute the conveniences of a micro SD card slot.
    - Micro USB port & micro HDMI port flippers will wear & tear very easily over the course of frequent usage. Xperia P’s port design would be ideal.
    - Plastic materials drives many buyers away. If you recall what materials drove HTC and iPhone’s market share to sky high.
    - A traveler’s lifestyle can be a standard benchmark to determine the design of a smartphone. Consider at anytime phones with specifications like this exceeds those of a normal lifestyle.
    - The Hayabusa code phone is an interesting device to be released at a time when 2 major flagship phones are also expected to be revealed. A specifications that at least matches them with removable battery, micro SD slot & aluminium casing are enough to give them a run for the money.

    Do any one know what would be the tentative date of Xperia S availability in Sony stores across US? and any clue whether they will make it available as Unlocked when bought from Sony store?
