Xperia go screen is built without using “no air gap” technology, right? If true, then I’m really sad :(
    P.S. Yellow rocks!

Why another better phone (Acro-S) is announced just after 3 months away from Xperia S, which is decribed by Sony as 2012 flagship. This is so unfair to Xperia S user like me. I wouldm’t go for Xperia S at all had i known another better and premium Sony phone like this, not to mention about the yellow spotted screen issues of Xperia S which is troubling people around the globe. I hope you can give a good explanation on behalf of Sony, Mr. Anthony.

Hi Ethan – thanks for stopping by,

Personally, I don’t think it’s a question of “the better phone” – Xperia S is a great smartphone, yet different to acro S by design language.

We create every Xperia smartphone to suit a person’s individuality, creativity and lifestyle :-)

I guess you could say it’s a case of “beauty in the eye of the beholder” – what do you reckon?

I was intending to buy the Xperia S but there is no available supply yet. However, with the announcement about the release of Xperia Acro S I might wait to see this new one. I do like the look of Xperia S. I love the audio of sony mobiles and the phones look sturdy. The 12 MP cam of Xperia S is a come on. As to the ICS, my Xperia Neo V has already been upgraded to ICS. I have the following questions:

    1. Would the price of Xperia Acro S be more or less similar to Xperia S?
    2. Does the Acro S have a slot for microsd?
    3. Is the battery of Xperia Acro S removable?

Hey Daisy – thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment,

First off, where are you based?

      Then, here goes:

      1. Would the price of Xperia Acro S be more or less similar to Xperia S?

They’re both premium smartphones, so will be priced accordingly – they’ll be pretty similar, but please check with your local operator/retailer for specifics.

      2. Does the Acro S have a slot for microsd?

Yep, it has an expansion slot for microSD up to 32 GB.

      3. Is the battery of Xperia Acro S removable?

No, it comes with an embedded battery.

      I hope that’s useful :-)

      Ant.

Hi Marcin – thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment,

Xperia S and Xperia acro S are fairly similar – they both have a 4.3″ 720p Reality Display, they both have 12MP fast capture cameras that go from sleep to snap in just over a second, and both have full HD video recording. But Xperia S has a truly iconic design with the distinctive transparent element below the screen and Xperia acro S gives you the benefits of the highest levels of durability of any smartphone.

I mentioned to Ethan, that maybe it’s a case of “beauty in the eye of the beholder”? :-)

You’re in Poland right? The Android 4.0 software update will be with you soon; please keep checking http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35144.

      I hope all that helps?

What’s the reason to release almost the same phone (little differences in look) with different name only? When Sony is going to release the quad core phone? Are there any plans for Xperia Play 2? The current version is already outdated with no capable hardware, I am really waiting for Xperia which can play the Vita games, it would be awesome. Of course it is a smartfone so it needs more ram than vita but if you announce such a device (hopefully with more ram and a bit faster processor and 720p screen) = you’ve got my money.

Sony Xperia S could be the best smartphone in the world, if it has Snapdragon S4 processor (hey, Sony, there is 2012 year outside) and WhiteMagic technology.

Please, make one excellent phone, but not many differently good.

P.S. Have you ever thought to combine Super Amoled and WhiteMagic technology? I hope you do )

considering its a midrange and premium phone, that would make the xperia active like the intro level phone. I can see a trend that ICS is only on the premium handsets on the onset and at a later time the rest of the ics capable phones. *sigh*

looks like i’ll need to save up for the premium if I want ics like when it arrives here.

    Hello Ant,
Will the Ion or Acro S be supporting LTE in europe? What’s the reason that manufactures (not only sony) are disabling this functionality in their products for Europe? We’ve got LTE here in Poland and I would like to benefit it.
RAnyway, any news on that one of this smartphones is going to use snapdragon S4 with adreno 320? Would be nice. I am thinking about change of my Arc S and I’m looking for something as powerfull as possible. Other brands offers quad cores already :( but I’m not sure of Tegra 3, my friend has htc one x and the home screen is a bit laggy. I think it is about the software, not the hardware. If you could improve a bit Arc S homescreen to be more smooth :(
And the last thing, there’s a problem to typing to this blog from the phone, the problem with the cursor, the coma (hidden in sub menu), and it is slow. Please check it.

Hi Anthony, here are my observations after updating Xperia Arc S from Android 4.03 to 4.0.4:

since update to Android 4.0.4 the camera works better, macro mode turns on when it should, rotation screen seems to work better and act faster as well.
Unfortunately the home screen seems to perform worse than on the 4.0.3 version.

Can you ask somebody from the tech/software department what’s the processor clock during using the home screen? I think it is set too low.The screen lags a lot – especially while using lot of widgets, but not only. Worse, sometimes scrolling “freeze” for a moment.

Can someone check it? Maybe you should do more QA tests?
    Please reply.

    Thank You.

I lost one of the rubber for MW600 headphone.

I was calling Xperia helpline in Poland and I get two Sony service numbers but the told me that they are not selling products and accessories! I’ve bought two different ones on internet (seller said that it was dedicated to Sony but it wasn’t – fakes) and ones in phone shop. Unfortunately the sound quality was so bad and quiet I don’t want to use it!!
Please Sony tell me where can I buy your original accessories such as those rubbers for MW600. Where the user can buy such a thing when he lose it?

    This is a problem…any ideas?
    Please HELP!
