A closer look at Mobile BRAVIA® Engine

June 22, 2012 - 2:55 PM

Guys,

I just wanted to flag something our good friends at Developer World pulled together yesterday – an in-depth explanation of Mobile BRAVIA Engine.

Mobile BRAVIA Engine is a signature Sony technology that comes locked and loaded in most Xperia smartphones. Present in Sony BRAVIA televisions for  years arguably greater than my age, it is a high quality imaging engine that makes your snaps and videos stand out from the crowd!

Just as with Sony TVs, Mobile BRAVIA adds sharpness filters and noise reduction to display rich, beautiful content on your Xperia smartphone – contrast enhancement to ensure content is always easy-on-the-eye, colour management for deep and vivid colours, noise reduction for seamless video and sharpness filters to bring out every minute detail.

With Xperia smartphones, it’s a piece of Sony magic in your pocket – to learn more about how it actually works, please check out the overview, video and image comparisons on Developer World!

I’m sorry to say but the photos taken indoors with flash are far from beeing Sony quality. I have Xperia U and there is a lot of noise in the picture. Samsung Ace does a better job for example in the same conditions and settings. The video quality also indoors is dissapointing comparing with other smartphones with the same camera type.

In the total warranty period of 12 month this phone was in service centre for 2 months. Like this time i submitted the phone in capital city of india for network prob. now the situation is that a newly launched phone doesn’t have its spares and it takes months together for delivery to the customers. when u call to customer care then they will kept u waiting for long time and later reply that yr phone repair is under process, finally when u asked for launching a complaint then neither executive will come on phone nor they will be call u back even when they will say sir we will call u in couple of hours.
Now i would like to ask to their managers if u keep this phone in service centre for such a long time within warranty period then who will be responsible for loss of this warranty period. company representative please reply soon or am going to raise this issue on every possible forum.

Last time, i have Xperia ray. Very good compact phone, slim, amazing screen. But signal reception is so bad. This signal reception is ok when use in the city, but I work in the jungle, so i’m frustating about that. Finally i sold xperia ray and bought an Xperia neo. Overal xperia neo is Ok, event xperia ray’s desain is still better, very good signal reception. But color is little dissapoint, event use Mobile Bravia Engine. I Compare to Xperia ray and Xperia Arc S, my neo’s screen is dissapointing. Its not more bridness, same like xperia arc s set to 40% brigness. Is it becaused of old screen technology or set the brigness from software? I hope when i upgrade to ICS can increase the quality of my xperia neo’s screen

sorry for my bad english, because i’m live in Indonesia

Hey Ab – thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment,

It sounds like you have quite the interesting job… perhaps our new durable (some would say invincible) Xperia go and Xperia acro S might be useful in your line of work? ;-)

Sorry to hear you’re having problems – please visit http://talk.sonymobile.com/community/support, where Sony representatives are available to help out.

If it isn’t already, ICS for Xperia neo should be with you soon – you’ll be able to see the list of released kits by SI number here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/38385.

      I hope that’s all useful,

      Ant.

    Hello Mr. Anthony,

I hope you doing well. I need a quick suggestions and explanations about differences between Sony Bravia Engine Display and Super AMOLED (Samsung) Display. I hope you will provide me the precise answer.

Here is my questions and clarification as I mention below:
Which is the best Display for Android platform mobiles? And Why?
If Sony Bravia Engine is the BEST apart from Super AMOLED display, then gimme a justification for why?

Trust I’m a big fan for Sony. Basically Sony’s Camera and Sound Clarity is too good. No one can beat those futures. I was using Sony Xperia Ray few days back and I lost It. Now I’m thinking to buy Xperia SL/ Xperia Ion or Samsung Galaxy S3. It would be a great if you are clarified my above questions, so that I can go with Sony Xperia :)

Please drop me a mail @ adarshsomayaji@gmail.com or revert me at this Blog.

Thank you so much in advance!!

    Many Regards,
    Adarsh
