Xperia Unleashed – can YOU track them down?

July 9, 2012 - 2:31 PM
19 comments

Happy Monday all!

If you were following our UK Facebook page last week, you might’ve noticed something funny going on…

It would appear that thousands upon thousands of Xperiabots (those little cyborgs from our recent Made of Imagination TV ad), have escaped from Xperia devices in and around the UK and even online!

So, if you’re out and about or browsing the web over the next few weeks, keep your eyes peeled – if you capture one of these bionic critters, you’ll be in with a chance of winning a number of Sony prizes, including:

  • Xperia NXT series handsets
  • Sony 4-screen bundles
  • Tickets to movie premieres, DJ sessions and gigs

These goodies can be claimed by simply scanning and uploading the alpha numeric or QR codes on the Xperiabots to the Sony Mobile UK Facebook page.

You can keep up with the hunt and grab hints and clues by following someone/something known as “Leaderbot”; @xperiaunleashed and #xperiaunleashed on Twitter, and Liking the UK Facebook page.

On your marks, get set, go! Be sure to let us know if you grab one :-)

How about something like that open to worldwide users? We Sony users outside UK would much appreciate that.

    Arnab.

Hey Arnab – thanks for stopping by,

Where are you based? There’s cool stuff happening in many/most of our markets around the world, with more to come! :-)

        Hi Anthony

I have an Xperia Ion LTE International LT28i version, is now, by far the top of the range version Xperia Nxt in the market, but this model is never mentioned in updates to ICS or Jelly Beam and still running GiB
Why have relegated this model preferring minor specifications equipment to upgrade?

I’m pretty disappointed with Sony, Sony does not report by any means of the update for this excellent phone.

Know when it will deliver them to update the international version of the Ion LT28?

    Dear Anthony,

I know that is not the right topic, but I guess is the best way to “talk” to you.
I would like to know if Sony already receive from Google the kits for developing Android 4.1 JB?
Are you working already in the stock rom?
I heard that Sony promise to 18 months of updates, so there is any chance of JB appears in Xperia 2011 models ?
I know that is too early, but I have to know that, because I have worked so hard in many magazines, forums and etc. in Brazil , saying about the great effort to upgrade the phones, the Sony real respect about the customers, different from other companies (Like Samsung) that always left the old customers. It was a great effort in Info Magazine, Techtudo (biggest site), Tecmundo , Diariodoandroid, Facebook, Google Plus.
Then I guess many people start to look to Sony as not only TV , Videogame, Music , Movie Company, but also a smartphone company that sells products with a great design, great functionalities, and of corse that offer the best support.

I hope to have any answer. Thanks

      Hey Marcus,

Feel free to drop a question anywhere on the blog – it’s the best way to talk with us as we listen and recognise every comment!

Following the Google I/O and the recent announcement of Jelly Bean, we’re evaluating potential upgrades for our current smartphone portfolio and will have with more info in due time. In the meantime, we’re continuing our upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich for Xperia S, as well as our 2011 Xperia smartphone portfolio.

      I hope that helps?

Thanks for the kind words too, really appreciate it :-)

      Ant.

    Dear Anthony,

    Here I am again. lol.

I send your statement in the biggest Android’s dedicated site in Brazil by mailing them (Marcus Navarro..=)) , about the study about the upgrade on Sony portfolio. I also say all the great effort of Sony to bring the ICS to Xperia 2011′s family. As you can see in the link, many of the comments praises the Company policy and support. Many of them wants to choose the next Phone to Sony and admires the Company. In the beginner I was really wonder about the upgrade, because it was my first Sony, but now I retribute the company effort make clear to everybody that Yes, you can find serious and nice companies in Android system, like Sony.

Here is the link, I guess you don’t know portuguese, but you can translate anyway, I send to them and they published.
