Hello everyone,

After the ICS rollout kick-off for Xperia P last week, we’re excited to tell you about our new Android 4.0.4 firmware for 2011 Xperia smartphones.

Starting from this week*, Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia neo, Xperia neo V, Xperia mini, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Xperia ray will receive a new Ice Cream Sandwich software update that comes with bug fixes, performance tweaks and other improvements.

Xperia mini pro, Xperia neo L and Live with Walkman are next up, and will start to receive their serving over the next few weeks.

If you’ve already upgraded to ICS, you’ll receive a notification in your phone and be able to download it over-the-air. For those guys on Gingerbread, you’ll need to plug in and upgrade using PC companion or Bridge for Mac. For more information, please visit http://www.sonymobile.com/update.

Let us know how you get on, and feel free to drop a comment below.

Ant.

*The availability and scheduling of this software upgrade will vary by market and carrier requirements

come on Sony, we didn’t even receive the first ics update for xperia mini (SI 1253-7599) The device is totally buggy because the sensor bug is said to be fixed with ics update.
now in summer the phone isn’t usable at all cause the bug depends on warmth! And the support can’t say anything but wait it will be there soon… but we are waiting for months now!

come on don’t forget some devices (it has no branding)

As most users of the Xperia mini pro I have checked for the ICS update every day since April.. Sony may think they are clever in fobbing us off as they seem to have no interest in providing the update. This must be destroying the company s reputation around the world! Please bite the bullet and come strait with us your previously loyal users and either give us the ICS update working or give us new phones that will update to ICS!

I Updated my Arc S with ICS and post that the Device starting losing Battery Charge Spontaneously.

Besides, it started heating up to 50 Degree Celsius Plus on the Back (Near the 2nd Mic Hole)

I had to take it to the Sony Service Center.

The Tech there said the Heating is due to ICS Update & It will be fine If I the Arc S downgraded to Android 2.3.4

I agreed and since then the heating problem and Battery Discharge problem is solved.

Please confirm, why is it so? and If there are issues with the Xperia ARC S getting ICS??

What about Xperia play? After announcement of instability of this phone sony dropped out this phone? This phone has so much capabilities, and larger improvements are shown in gingerbread (camera records in 720p resolution instead of standard 480p), etc. etc.

    Hi

i updated my Xperia Pro with 4.1.B.0.587 3 days ago and i noticed this newly found and existing issues.

Home screen lags most of the time after using music player/browser/gaming etc. (which is not an issue during my GB days)
Network mode goes back to wcdma/gsm mode everytime you shutdown/ turn on your phone. I usually use GSM Only mode but when i turned off my phone and switch it on again i have 1 signal bar missing and when i check the network mode it shows the dual mode. It happened most of the time.
After several hours of using phone applications or playing games and browsing internet it takes time to respond. Especially the settings and phone dialer. (yeah its faster compare to first ics update but after several hours of usage it becomes worst and takes about 7-10 seconds to appear the dialer)
i dont find any difference with the previous ics update, all i can say it fix some issues for a short time period and issues goes back with worsiest respond compare to previous one. i dont know what to say but i am hoping if sony cannot fix the 2011 ICS software pls give us an option to go back to gingerbread using SPC or SUS. or just give us a 2.3.7 update with 2012 xperia user experience and we will be thankful instead of having unstable ICS update.
stock email client becomes very slow it takes 7-10 seconds to open the applicaton. (gmail apps is better but im using stock email for my yahoo mail account)
Lastly never ever suggest me to repair/reset/reformat my mobile because im done with all these troubleshooting and all bugs were still there.

I could not have said it better myself,i think we should only get OTA updates(reasonable sized patches) and no PCcompanion compulsion.
I did decide to repsir and perform a clean install of this ICS update, other than clearing up a bit of internal memory in the phone it has not done any good.In fact current update worked had better wifi working and after repair it loops sometimes! And reinstalling all the apps is just not worth the hassle performing repair. Lol now starting the wait for next update.

Own knowledge (tested on a clean install – SUS)
        - operation of the system seems to be smoother compared 4.1.B.0.431
        - start phone dialer is fasteer
        - Wifi hotspot OK
        - HD video applications is smoother with enabled stabilization (there is a need to optimize) compared 4.1.B.0.431
        - HD video only MONO
        - LED SMS not works:
        4.1.B.0.587 LED SMS not works
        4.1.B.0.431 LED SMS not works
4.1.A.0.562 LED not works missed call
        - 2 UEFA applications – why ?
        - always old application
        - if you set GSM only switch phone off and on the phone it restores itself to “WCDMA preferred”

My phone is Xperia Sola. I bricked my phone trying to upgrade it last night. My phone switched off in the middle of the process though it was fully charged. After that I am having a problem with touch and can’t sign in to Google account. I am using Mac Bridge. I have already reset all settings to factory data but it didnt work either. Expecting a solution for you and also expecting ICS to come very soon for Sola. It was surprising to see other old products getting ICS update sooner than Sola and other newer phones. Please let me know if I anything to do. Dont have a warranty so um gonna root for any custom ROM very soon.

    => PLEASE PAY ATTENTION

I got the ICS (4.0.1)update on my LIVE WITH WALKMAN, its working awesome. No any performance issue, running well.

After that I haven’t tried any updates for my phone, because I m waiting for a complete ICS including some missing features that I had with the gingerbread version.

HERE ARE SOME POINTS, WHICH SHOULD BE ADDED IN THE NEXT NEW UPDATES OF ICS.

    - Bring back the smooth UI of gallery as was in GB.

-Themes are very simple, must add attractive themes as were in GB.

    -Camera lacks Macro,

-Make USB mode changable when phone hi connected to PC (as was in GB)

-Contact picture in background while editing contact was phenomenal in GB, please bring it back.

IF THESE ARE SOLVED, Live With Walkman ICS WILL BECOME THE BEST FROM SONY.

PLEASE DO IT IN THE NEXT COMING ICS UPDATES/VERSION FOR Live With Walkman.

Can you let us know what the new software version will be? Just in car the new enhancememts aren’t blatantly obvious.
