PlayStation® Mobile right around the corner – launching October 3rd

September 19, 2012 - 4:09 PM
31 comments

Guys – some exciting news…

Today, our friends at Sony Computer Entertainment announced that PlayStation Mobile content will hit Playstation Store October 3rd!

As you’d expect, users can look forward to entertaining, addictive Sony PlayStation quality gaming, with 30 new titles at launch – across Adventure, Action, Puzzle, Sports and Simulation.

The service kicks-off in Japan, US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Australia with more countries to follow.

It goes without saying, owners of our PlayStation™ Certified devices (Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia S, Xperia ion, Xperia acro S, Xperia TX, Xperia T, Xperia V, Xperia SL, and Sony Tablet S, Sony Tablet P and Xperia Tablet S) will be able to access this killer PS content.

PlayStation Mobile is supported by third party developers, publishers as well as SCE Worldwide studios and the plan-of-action is to release content regularly, as and when new titles become available.

I know there’s a fair few guys who follow the blog who are both budding and seasoned developers – well, the PlayStation Mobile Developer Program (which includes the official PS Mobile SDK) will become available to the dev community in November. This will be a phased roll-out beginning in 11 countries; it will allow developers to easily distribute content commercially through PS Store and market to millions of gaming-nuts with PlayStation™ Certified devices and PlayStation Vita.

Ant.

Nice and all, but PLEASE tell us what the plans are timescales are for Jellybean, I am particularly interested in the Xperia S.

If you truly want to catch Samsung, you need to be more dynamic and more transparent with information like this.

I’m confused, i thought this was going to be Playstation one games and similar on mobile devices, but its a whole new set of developed apps, is this supposed to compete with Google Play store? I’m unsure of the real aim of the app. And you its for Vita as well? My friend has almost finished his game for it, i guess he must’ve been on the list of developers to get the Dev kit early.

    Dear Anthony,

How are you? Here I am. Unfortunately I came here, not to say about my love to Sony (that everybody knows), but to ask about Jelly Beans news. Specially about what phones will get the upgrade. (I am praying to my Xperia Neo get the update). I don’t like to compare, but all the other mobile companies in the World have already spoke about the phones that will receive this update. I know that we are still rolling out the ICS , and even now we receive the new firmware that really improved the performance, but I Guess should make clear what will be the next step. I Hope that the effort to upgrade 2011 phones will be praised by all Sony users and will bring more customers. Then, Please I Beg, any information about the Jelly Bean will be good. This is delay take so long.

    Dear Anthony,

How are you? Here I am again, I just came here to ask about the Jelly Bean update. Because all the other companies made clear what phones might get the Jelly Bean. Only Sony that we have a lot of doubts. I know that we still receiving ICS, and we also upgraded our phones to new firmware(improving the perfomance). But we need to know if Sony still will be praised as the best mobile company, not only by the users, but to many people. I hope you upgrade the 2011 xperias to Jelly Bean.

My best wishes, I hope to you answer my questions and peharps an ETA about it. We all love Sony, but the delay took so long.

    Sincerely.

      Hey Marcus,

I’m all good thanks, how are you doing?

All I can say is, we’re continuously evaluating potential upgrades for all our Xperia smartphones but in the meantime, we continue our comprehensive upgrade to ICS for our 2012 as well as our 2011 Xperia smartphone portfolio – more ICS news on Xperia U, Xperia go and Xperia sola very soon :-)

      Ant.

        Dear Anthony,

Thanks again for the information. I know that it take time to know what phone will get the update. As a Sony user, I hope the 2011 portfolio get it. I would love to see my xperia neo with JB. By the way thanks for the update, and thanks Sony devs for the new firmware. The .587 is really good and responsive.

        Thanks again.

        My best wishes.

        Marcus

So I can get Phone apps like my Console/PSP/PSV?

I’d like some of the inverse actually. Or at least more PS1 games on the market.
