Enhance your experience of Smart Wireless Headset pro
Hello everyone,
As you may remember we’ve posted previously about the Smart Wireless Headset pro and introduced all the cool features that make it the ultimate headset for handling calls and even for use as a stand-alone mp3 player (saving your phone battery in the process!).
Since we launched the product we’ve been listening to your feedback across our forums, and in response we’ve further enhanced the experience by releasing a new software update 0.1.C.0.3.
To get the lowdown on how to update your Smart Wireless Headset pro software, click through to our software update page here.
Once you have got your software updated, below are a few tips and tricks to getting the most out of it!
Firstly, the easiest way to get your top tracks onto your Smart Wireless Headset pro? Use the CCR-80 (micro SD card reader included in the kit*), plug the reader into the USB port of your computer, insert your SD card, transfer your music files and then just slide your updated SD card back into your headset and you are ready to rock!
There are also some useful hot key shortcuts on the Smart Wireless Headset pro. When listening to the radio, you can save the radio frequency of your choice by pressing the previous and next track buttons simultaneously on the headset. Thus your favorite station will only ever be a click away. You can also directly access the call log of your Android phone by doing a long press on the answer/end button on the headset making those last dialed numbers easily accessible.
As always, we’ll be keeping you informed on all the latest updates to make sure that you get the best possible experience from all our products.
Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
*N.B.: As the kits are differing from market to market, if you do have one without the CCR-80 in the kit content, you can use any micro SD card reader with USB 2.0 high-speed.

You says that “When listening to the radio, you can save the radio frequency of your choice by pressing the previous and next track buttons simultaneously on the headset. Thus your favorite station will only ever be a click away.”

I don’t have the MW1 yet, but surely planning to get one!
I have read quite a fair amount of concerns but I am sure you have fixed many of them!
One question however, does the device have a “flight mode” or has that ever been considered? Even if the device is not “connected” to my Xperia up in the air, the MW1 device is “continuously searching” for the registered smartphones, isn’t it? That would create concerns from passengers around, wouldn’t it?Just a thought & looking forward to getting one sooon!

So finally bought the device… I love the concept, I love the design, I love what it can do (or supposed to be able to)….
BUT….. I’d like to comment in a non-offensive way…. and I’d like to lay down the facts.
I believe it does not take a genius to think that….. “you need to USE your phone also while you listen to music with your decive.”I believe many of the buyers buy this device for the “extra MP3 player” functionality…. indeed for the “saving the battery” concept…. and that ONE thing does not work properly. Once you play the music on your headset as an MP3 player, everytime you touch the phone to do something, the music stops….
I would like to ask WHY this is? I have read about this concern beforehand and hoped that this would’ve been fixed with the firmware update….
My phone is none-other than XPERIA S and Bluetooth music functionality works perfectly fine (so far) just like any older Sony(Ericsson) headsets….
I would really like a response on this, as I suppose many other users are wondering the same. As you pay extra for a “premium headset”, I suppose you expect “premium quality”.
Again, I don’t want to be offensive… so just to be fair, I’d like to point out some nice things.
- The music quality is superb, haven’t tested the calling yet.
- The email notification and opening it works perfectly fine, but personally, perhaps I think its easier to take out the phone to read it as the screen is naturally very small…. – I’d assume the same goes for text messages, but I think less and less people use it, considering instant messaging (would be mice for future compatibity).
- “Find phone” is a very cool function. Except I would personnaly need a “find headset” function more frequently…For the rest, I do look forward to using the device. Just concerned about the battery life when listening to music via bluetooth… (as the older onesndid perfectly well for days and days without charging even after using for years..)
Look forward to hearing a response on the MP3 player!

Hey Keita – thanks for stopping by,
To answer your first question, if you’re on the plane and have “flight mode” on, it will switch Bluetooth off by default. However, you can reactivate Bluetooth from the time you are allowed to use your electrical devices in the air. Then, you will be able to use Smart Wireless Headset pro for streaming music as well, not only for listening to tunes from the SD card.
When it comes to your second question, if you are using the stand alone mp3 player (from the SD card, select SD card icon within music menu ), you should be able to press any key on your phone without interfering with the music. So, you’ll be able to use your phone as you want to
Please visit sonymobile.com/support if you continue to experience any device issues.
I hope that helps?
Ant.

Dear anthony,
Thanks for your reply!
Well noted concerning the flight mode. Thank you. Except, I have read on the All Nippon Airways website that the usage of MW1 is not permitted on their planes, as it is a bluetooth headset… but on the plane I’m happy using it as a MP3 player.
However, unfortunately, the problem of using the XPERIA S while listening to music from the SD card persists… while listening to the music, if I try to do anything on the phone, the music stops for exactly 3 seconds without exceptions… which is unbearable of couse, while texting, while browsing on the internet, while using google drive, while updating my diary etc. etc. etc……
I do wonder whether this is the bluetooth connection problem or the firmware problem of the Xperia S, as the software of Sony(Ericsson) smartphones gets extremely heavy and lags after 6 months of advanced usage (again without exceptions). Sometimes I really miss the CyberShot phones and C905, which were superb camera +music phones…. and I really hope what Dennis van Schie said that a flagship model that is able to compete with iPhone and SIII is coming is true… after using generations and generations of SE, I would not not want to switch now, now that it is only Sony….I will get in touch Sony Mobile support, thank you…

hi there, I’m a happy user of mw600. I bought the idea of smart wireless pro and “UPGRADED”.
to my surprise the experience wasnt ideal. I’m no longer happy.
When there is a message or a 2nd call when I am using the phone, smart wireless headset would beep a few times, this interrupts the conversation and gets the other party on the line agitated.
is there anyway to disable the beeping? i tried uninstalling smart connect and the smart wireless headset pro apps.
I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Note with Sony Ericsson Smart Wireless Headset Pro.
I was a happy user with the MW600. great experience and excellent battery life.
WIth this new device, I am not impressed. I hope you can improve via a firmware update soon!
