Xperia™ ZL – the world’s most compact smartphone with a 5” display*

A quick note on a cool fact – did you know Xperia ZL has the highest ratio of screen to phone size of any known smartphone?

Sony Xperia ZL accomplishes the design impossible: a 76% display-to-design footprint that’s second to none, all in a smartphone that fits nicely in your pocket.

The result? An immersive “Only Display” impression that lets your content take centre stage, whilst the hardware disappears – showcasing your images, photos, games, Instagram snaps, tweets…

For us, “design” is all about finding the balance between tech and aesthetics. For example, when building component layout; we eliminated a layer of air to bring the display closer to the lens for greater touch sensitivity, to make things more compact and for a clearer viewing experience even in the brightest sunlight!

This means you get a smartphone that manages to feel both striking and compact at the same time :)

    Please release the Xperia ZL in the same markets, and as aggressively as the Xperia Z.
    Xperia ZL is a fantastic alternative to the Xperia Z, for those of us who want a more compact 5″ Sony handset.
    We expect because the Xperia ZL is not IP55 and IP57 certified, that it will not suffer from below average spearker performance.

      So, Sony are at it again. I registered for the pre-release offer here in Spain for the Xperia Z that should come with the new set of headphones for free. Now they are offering a tatty wireless speaker if you pay the incredible price of (From) 669€. I can´t even get to a purchase of the Purple unit as all it re-directs to is the black offering. And that is after a long wait for the page to load. I really want the ZL anyway, as the Z is FAR TOO LARGE for a smartphone. So hard luck Sony, another customer lost by dodgy marketing.

    For us, the “design” is to find the balance between technology and aesthetics. For example, the construction of design component, we removed a layer of air close to the target screen for an increased sensitivity to touch, to make things more compact and clear viewing experience, even in bright sunlight!
