Our approach

Sony Mobile’s approach to sustainability is based on the product life cycle. That means that we take all aspects of materials, design, supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, product use and end-of-life treatment of our products into consideration when we develop our products, and our business.

Our Sustainability Programme, initiated in 2007, was an important milestone in this life cycle approach. The programme successfully implemented sustainable thinking and actions in various departments within the company in the form of seven cross-functional and large-scale sustainability projects: from sustainable design and supply chain projects to a global recycling system.

The seeds from the programme continue to grow and evolve with further activities including the development of the GreenHeart™ products reducing carbon footprint from our operations, ensuring ethical procurement throughout the supply chain, and full implementation and operation of our recycling system.
