Sony Mobile Communications announces new Head of Sales and Marketing

London, UK – Sony Mobile Communications (Sony Mobile) today announced that Dennis van Schie has been appointed Corporate Vice President, Head of Sales and Marketing, reporting to President and CEO Kunimasa Suzuki.

Dennis van Schie has more than 10 years of experience working for Sony Mobile (formerly Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications), most recently as Corporate Vice President, Head of Product Business Unit, where he was responsible for product planning, development and management of the Xperia smartphone portfolio.

Sony Mobile Communications Announces New Leadership
Kunimasa Suzuki named new President and CEO and Bert Nordberg to become Chairman of the Board

LONDON, UK – Sony Mobile Communications today announced that Kunimasa Suzuki has been named President and CEO of Sony Mobile Communications, effective 16 May 2012, and Bert Nordberg, currently President and CEO, will step down from the leadership of the company. Bert Nordberg will become Chairman of Sony Mobile Communications’ board.

As announced by Sony Corporation on 27 March, Corporate Executive Officer and Executive Vice President, Kunimasa (Kuni) Suzuki, will assume responsibility to oversee planning and design of all Sony’s consumer products and services, with the aim of strengthening horizontal integration and enhancing the user experience across Sony’s entire product and network service lineup. His responsibility includes overseeing the mobile business that Sony has identified as one of its core electronics business areas, including smartphones, tablets and PCs.

The Sony Open for Tennis Arrives in Miami.
Sony Mobile Communications renames the Sony Ericsson Open tennis tournament

Miami, Fla.,– Sony Mobile Communications today announced it is changing the name of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami to Sony Open (Tennis), starting in 2013. The name reflects the company’s new brand and name after Sony Ericsson became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony in February of this year.

“The Sony Open tennis tournament enables us to introduce Sony’s Xperia™ smartphones to a broad and influential consumer audience in the areas of sports and entertainment,” said Stephan Croix, VP, Head of Marketing Creation at Sony Mobile Communications. “The tournament is a perfect platform to bring the excitement of Sony’s connected entertainment experiences to athletes, fans and consumers and offer them an opportunity to get their hands on the latest Sony products.”
