Yearly Archives: 2008
We’ll be off for the Christmas / New Year period between now and the 5th of January so we thought we’d leave you with some holiday reading. Below is what I think is an exhaustive list of all the Xperia reviews posted in 2008, if I’ve missed any, please feel free to add them in the comments, we’ll attempt to moderate comments at least daily.
Before we sign off, we’d like to thank you all for your involvement with the site this year and to say that we look forward to seeing you in 09, when we’ll be following the development of new panels, the continuing global roll out of the X1 and maybe even some other Xperia related goodness.
All the best from Sam, Stuart, Merran, and all at Sony Ericsson.

The people over at Windows Mobile have launched a youtube channel, in fact its been going just over a month now and is beginning to feature some good content (I particularly like the help and how-to videos.)
Enjoy.
A new portal from the BBC iPlayer team is set to go live by the end of next week which will add iPlayer compatibility for the X1, the C905 and the Omnia. We’ll update this as soon as it’s live but in the mean time, (and quite co-incidentally,) the beeb are running a day dedicated to the inner workings of the iPlayer tomorrow, it will be documented largely through twitter and we though thought you might be interested. We’ve got a tweetscan running in the sidebar and if anything of particular interest pops up during #iplayerday, we’ll update this post.
Update: forgot to mention that this is a UK only service.
As promised, here is the video demo of the new facebook panel. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments and we’ll do what we can to answer them. Enjoy.

The first new panels (facebook and windows live,) for the xperia are now available for download from www.sonyericsson.com/fun. We’ve been trying them out over the last week or so and so far so good – windows live panel lets you integrate your hotmail, msn messenger and live search into the handset, whilst the facebook panel provides a custom interface between the handset and the site.
Two of the facebook features are particularly noteworthy – you can use the phone number field of your friends’ profiles as a kind of subsidiary phonebook and call them from within the panel, which is very cool. Also, the photos page gives you a one click upload and allows you to open the camera without leaving the panel.
We’ll have a demo video of all this up tomorrow.

(on a train, blogging from the xperia)
Update: video camera broken – video coming later this week
Update 2: One of our first panel partners, Dashwire has posted on the Dashwire blog about the xperia panel. Also, the official Sony Ericsson press release is here.
