Hi
Is the silver X1 avaiable at the release in Sweden or is it only the black that hit the shelfes first?

Today is the official launch date for the Xperia X1 and I just wanted to confirm to everyone that it has launched as planned. Units have left the factory and are on their way to the shops in the UK and Nordic markets where they should be available in the next week or so.
The new X1 product site is also live and has some consumer videos demonstrating some of the X1’s strengths, including a look at the panels and how you can personalise your X1. Other videos cover mobile internet, the wide VGA touch screen, the arc slider qwerty keyboard, camera and video recorder, MP3 player, Google Maps and assisted GPS. There’s even a video about how you can use the X1 to make and receive calls!

Okay, so today is the ‘offical launch’ date for the xperia X1. What does that actually mean to U.S. consumers interested in purchasing the phone. Questions such as when, where and for how much are yet to be answered.

Amazin that the x1 is now being shipped. But im really worried about whether it will actually be released in India in October cause carriers don’t usually release Mobiles. So can we see it in a sony world or do we have to wait till some carrier signs up.

yeah so what if its launched. been waiting so many months for this phone n it keeps getting delayed. now they say doesnt mean its launch it will b available and have to wait another week! gosh this stupid se ppl, hurry up n it doesnt matter how big company u r , but if u keep on pushing dateline n all, ppl will just opt for other better phones which r already available and comapnies which are much more punctual and trustworthy. n i dont care if it takes a week for shiping, when u launch a freaking phone, it means that it should b selling straight away n besides u had so much time to ship it by delaying n annoying ppl!

@ irritated: we shipped the phone on the day we said we were going to, when the networks decide to put it into their shops is completetly up to them and can’t and shouldn’t be influenced by us. Thanks for the comment though, criticism is as useful as praise.

I am also wondering as to when the phone will make it to the Indian market. I have been waiting for this phone ever since it was announced and it would be thoroughly disappointing for it not to make Indian shores because of the lack of carriers.

Hi there, what about availability in your flagship store? This isn’t carrier dependant as I assume these are unlocked devices…any info on when it would be available there?

SE thank you for the X1. Have owned the P800, P900, P910, M600, W950, P990 and the P1i. SE always tries to deliver that little bit extra. Hopefully I’ll have my X1 around w/s 13th Oct (have pre-ordered from 4 stores/e-shops).

irriated, Nosscire, I feel you guys. This whole things is a big disspointment. After all the delays, the phone is finally ‘launched’ but not yet available. . . the hell does that mean? And if SE is talking about shipment dates, and the ‘launch date’ is upto the networks, then why can’t they disclose the shipment dates to the rest of the world? Afterall, they are only the ‘shipment dates’. I think this is the least SE can do appease the irritated consumers.
I think SE has this all wrong. Despite all the hot new phones that have hit the market recently (or expected to hit the market), SE probably thinks that this phone will sell strong, thereby can blow off guys like us who have been waiting forever patiently for this phone to come out. Boy are they in for a surprise. Never underestimate the dissapointed buyers and the power of word of mouth. I will soon switch my phone to another brand, as I am tired of waiting, and will buy a different phone for my wife too, as she currently uses a SE.
Good luck, Sam (Oakley)

OK, what about markets that are not all operator-driven? Here in Poland we don’t buy phones exclusively from operators – it’s very easy to say that some entities called “networks” will decide and SE’s got nothing to do with availability, but there’s one thing missing here – when will the X1 be released to retailers?

I think that @irritated made a pretty valid and interesting point. The old way of doing things is to make an announcement, then a release and then it becomes available for sale at the stores.
In this day and age, release and sale should be very very close to each other, if not on the very same day itself.
Customers don’t care about logistics and delivery mechanisms and difficulties, they want the products in their hands and using it. So if you say it is released and they don’t see it anywhere, it isn’t released.

i think the SE X1 will be the best SE device so far but i just hope it will not have any big problems? it may have some issues i guess?? as no handset is 100% complete but i thot the SE K850i was going to be the best untill it had problem after problem & it let me down as the previous SE products never had big issues!!

Same question as ‘nice to hear from you’, when will the flagship store have sim-free stocks?? … No midnight opening and queues forming outside the shop on ‘release night’ I take it. I am flying into the UK today (02/10/2008) and leaving on Sunday … I was hoping to pick one up – initially I was worried that first batches would all have been snapped up long before I arrived in the UK … but by the sounds of things the first batches will be in a logistics centre even long after I have left the UK. … So back to the question: Flagship store sim-free release date?? and any update on retail price for SimFree?
