Vivaz and X10 Goes Skiing

I spent the weekend up in snowy Åre of Sweden – of course I shot some pics with both X10 and Vivaz and also some videos with Vivaz. Below you find some snowy landscape pics and also some videos I shot when there was an open session contest in jumping into the BigAirBag that we brought to Åre this weekend. It’s cool to see those guys and girls really spin off in creativity when they are sure that they will land softly :-) I know I’m not experienced in shooting action sports and in retrospect I should have found some cooler angles to shoot from. I guess also some kind of DIY fish-eye lens would have done the tricks better since that’s what we are used to when it comes to action sports ;-)

Please note that the scene with all the snow was a bit tricky for exposure so for some of the clips I pumped up the exposure one step manually.

First some pics shot by me and my friend Josef (first two from X10 and the rest from Vivaz):

Early morning view over Åresjön - shot with X10

Early morning "snow-bow" over Åresjön - shot with X10

View over Åresjön - shot with Vivaz

View from the top of Åreskutan - shot with Vivaz

View from Åreskutan - shot with Vivaz by Josef

And then some video clips, all show in 720p HD with Vivaz:

    DAM!
How could I miss this event?
If I knew about it I had definitely been there (live pretty close to Åre), especially if there was a possibility to get a “glimt” of the X10 live. ;-)
Another cool Snowkite event is scheduled in Östersund, sweden 25-28/3.

Rikard: Do you know if you (SE) will be there? …or next time SE (you???) will be in Åre? :-D

    illusionado,
Glad you like it :-) No there’s no sequence shot feature. The focus when shooting pictures has four different modes: Auto (center), Face detections (which of course can be off center), Macro and infinity. When shooting video you have two different focus modes: Auto (center) and infinity.

    Morg,
sorry you missed it, would have been nice to say hello and let you try out the X10 a bit! I don’t think we have other plans for Åre this winter but I’ll ask around to find out.

The Vivaz is looking like a cracking imaging phone. Despite both being 8MP cameraphones, the Vivaz shots look distinctly more detailed than the X10. There’s some quite stunning shots there. Is there any particular reason for this?

Android is not known for its imaging devices to date or its multimedia prowess. Does this have something to do with it?

You should have strapped a Vivaz onto a ski/snowboard to get a cool video :-) and it would be a good test of the phone as well.
Any news on when there might be a new Satio Firmware…. ?
    Thanks

Oh my dear God! The photos are breathtaking especially the theme.
Sir. Rik you’ve got my attention. I am a snowboarder extraordiner :D and i’d really go crazy without the snow. Anyway the photos are awesome. The photos need no improvement. I really like”em, really really like”em. The saturation as I can see on the fisrt photo is good, really good. It shows the colors nicely, the white shades are sometimes problematic, they might have some issues with the other colors. I remember the k850i had a similar problem. Anyway i can’t say that the Vivaz or Vivaz Pro cought my attention as much as the X10 ( or some other phones) but since it has HD recording it’s just not natural to have some failures in taking photos.

@Rikard: Very good photographs, the white color is very HARD in photography ,is no noise GREAT.
    @NOC: The snow/ing :( didn’t really like me. if snowing here, we (all) die. I prefer the sun,beach & sea :) .
@Rikard: I’ve something more fun and it’s called HOPPERS in Colombia. I’m very happy :) . I register to “Ridder” a hopper. The event is Feb. 28. I’m going to take many pictures, is the official advert for SatioA. (Satio for America) I’ve to return the hopper :( , but I can win a satioA :)

freddy i love snowboarding. Before i go downhill me and my buddies listen to a small track from GONE IN 60 SECONDS. The film that is :) You know the scene before the grate boost and they’re all listening to a small track? Well snowboarders have a tradition even if they are not in a group to listen to a music before going downhill. And when it ends, then the fun starts :)

    http://www.androidos.in/2010/01/android-sporting-sony-ericsson-qwerty.html

The specifications and QWERTY keyboard are too good to wait for it. According to concept designer Jozef Kocúr, ‘Scarlet’ features a 4.5 inch OLED touchscreen display (480×800 pixels), an 8 megapixel camera, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1Ghz processor, 512 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM with Android 2.0 on-board.

Sorry for my Swedish note below, it’s only about my regrets that I missed a possibility to test the X10. :-/

Hon är nere varje vecka, mån – tors. =)
…jo, är lite avis på hennes jobb…. För att inte tala om ditt!!! ;-)
