Finally an update on the question of Equalizer for Satio and Vivaz. As some of you might know one important feedback from you the readers of this blog has been that you want an equalizer in Satio and Vivaz. Since I got this feedback and saw your engagement in the issue I’ve worked quite a lot with trying to make that happen. As it turned out it unfortunately hasn’t been possible to add it in an integrated way in a software update. However some real hero colleagues of mine decided to try to build it as a separate application instead so I’m now delighted to at least offer a kind of solution for those of you that have been missing an equalizer.

For most markets there is now an free application called “Equalizer” available on PlayNow in the music category under applications. This equalizer will give you the following different options: Off, Classical, Jazz, Dance, Party, Pop, Rock, Spoken Word, Loudness, Mega Bass and Treble Boost. As I understood it it will equalize all music played in the phone, also the setting it makes is global and stay there if the Equalizer application is closed and also even stays after rebooting the phone. There are two important notes though: First of all this application needs the latest update to work on Satio (on Vivaz it works on the launch SW of course) and also since it’s a separate application it needs to be started separately when you want to start using it i.e. it’s not included under options in e.g. the music player. When an equalizer setting has been chosen it should stay even if the application is closed or the phone rebooted.

I’m well aware that it would have been even better to have a fully integrated equalizer and I’m sorry that we don’t have that. Still I hope that this solution will work for those of you that really feel that an equalizer has been missed a lot.

Here are some screenshots and a short video I shot to show you how it works. (Sorry for the shaky video – I didn’t have my tripod in the office today so I had to navigate the Satio with one hand while filming with a Vivaz with the other hand)

    Yeah, it actually is a “Disaster”. But it’s not the phone, it’s the review. :mad:
    A review can’t be so biased. They have nothing to say bout the Design of the Xperia X10 still they added it in the positive points.
    - They found the screen unresponsive. Ah, no words for it. Simply!
    - They found writing on X10 is difficult. Perhaps, they are not accustomed to capacitive screens.
    - Build quality seemed to be cheap to them, and everyone else out their thinks X10 is pleasure to hold in hand. Simply Disgusting! :(
    - For Android, they are somewhat right and it’s quite debatable so, i would leave it.
    They have given low score on “Ease of Use” and “Features”, did they even find anything thats on other Android phones and is missing here? Didn’t they notice the additions done by SE? I mean this is insane!
    They’ve got serious problems! :( Anyone who is sensible enough would get their biased-ness for sure.
    Hope to get in my hands by 25th, so will post you a truly unbiased review on it. :)

    @ Ylli, Anders, Manish

    For crying out loud, can you please stop dismissing every single bad review and stop hailing only the positive ones (how come you think that a negative review is biased and a positive review is non-biased) or are you only happy when you hear what you want to hear or is that Swedish people have higher expectations/standards and don’t settle for just anything and also considering the price of the phone, then a lot of the critique makes sense, let people make their one minds. My personal feel is that x10 is laggy and it will be laggy, and that’s really shame because unluckily I love this phone and there is a very very high probability that I’m going to buy it, but I have a gut feel that I’m going to be disappointed. And Manish we have seen lots and of lots of videos where the reaction time when touching the screen has been disasterous.

    1. The title is mean-spirited
    2. is a superficial and simple article in which no one speaks of the properties of the mineral crystal screen or the rubber and plastics MADE by sony ericsson, this man knows nothing about journalism or ethics.
    3. in the remarks can be seen as this gentleman is accustomed to speak rudely of sony ericsson and never Acknowledge the advantages of x10 xperia phone as compared to other Droid, Nexus or HTC. That shit can that revision !!!
    4. is regrettable that a Swedish person speaks ill of a Swedish company. I say in my country there’re many probremas but not that bad-heart and try to help.
    5. what you care is to see how many blogs and pages are wrong and baseless talk of Sony Ericsson products, in that sense this blog is great because a user can watch videos of X10 and make their own decisions. We have another GSM Arena and now this journal

    It’s great to see some positive results coming from comments on this blog and some action from SE employees. I’m not 100% convinced that SE as a whole are changing but I do believe that Rikard and colleagues are genuinely working to ‘turn the supertanker’ and every step like this will help.
    Best of luck,
    Mike

    Maybe i’m off topic but i wonder why x10 mini is faster than x10 even though id doesn’t use snapdragon. I can admit that sometimes x10 seems laggy and x10 mini is lightning fast. it sucks that x10 aint. i want the speed of mini in x10.

    correct me if i’m wrong but the zooming of mini is a bit different from x10? i want this feature in x10 as well

    The screen resolution is the big thief of the performance. I myself cnt understand why you need 800*480 resolution? 640*360 i enough.
    Performance is always most important.

    Nori is right. You guys are dismissing all the bad reviews without having tested the phone yourself. Ok maybe the score is lower then should be but still, some of the negative stuff should be true….
    Its like you guys are blindly dismissing every negative point. Just wait for the phone and then see for yourself.

    @ Rikard. Thanks a lot. :)
    But i personally feel that there was no need of an Equalizer app but Kinetic Scrolling is much more important. Well, Its just my personal thought.
    And Can Nokia people use it? If yes, then I really hate it.
    Thanks Again.

    @rickard

    It looks like the reviews that have been bad (IDG, Feber.se etcc..) have used the following FW version’s:

    kernel “2.6.29-rel”
    baseband “1.0.14″

    according to some X10 user’s the latest baseband is 1.0.16, can you confrim if this is true, 1.0.16 should be much “quicker” than 1.0.14

    @Lobo
    I det här fallet har de ju dessutom skickat två exemplar med gammal mjukvara till mig och och båda gångerna hävdat att det är senaste och samma som ska säljas i butik. Även om det inte känns schysst mot läsare att testa en gammal version så har i alla fall inte jag tid att testa samma telefon upprepade gånger bara för att SE inte kan sköta sina lurar rätt, så jag gissar att de ville ha dålig press helt enkelt.

    @Henrik

    As pizza said the differnece in screen resolution between the X10 and X10 mini is the key when it comes to performance.

    A very rough estimate can be done by comparing the number of pixels and the cpu clock frequency. This is not very scientific because you don’t consider GPUs and different impemenations of the SW and so on.

    800*480 / 320*240 = 5
    1G / 600M = 1.67

    So the X10 is only 1.67 times “faster” but the X10 has 5 times more pixels to draw.

    Very good analyzation. But I think the SW also plays an important role in the speed. Like you said before resolution are just one of the key for the speed and so, in the SW, it needs to fit for that specific resolution and all GUI and UI plays on it.

    @Rikard

    Is there any java inplementation on the X10 ?

    As I am huge F1 fan I would like to run the official F1 Timing app, it runs on java platform, like JBLEND on my current machine (HD2).

    Will I be able to run the F1 Java timing app on my soon to be X10 ? :)

    Maybe you could try on your’s
