First of all – sorry for being absent, I did unfortunately not have any updated news over the weekend and now I’m off to a course somewhere in the German country side with a very tight schedule and also very bad 3G coverage and a really really slow hotel wi-fi.
As a side note: We have experienced some technical issues with the blog server resulting in the caching of the comments section acting strangely – therefore we unfortunately will have to close the comments sections for a while until the issues are resolved. We hope to have it up and running again tomorrow. I will keep you posted. *UPDATE 2010-11-11* We’re still suffering from this issue and are working hard to have it solved – we will not be able to turn comments on until we’re sure it’s fixed though
Hopefully it will be confirmed soon!
*UPDATE 2010-11-15* We have now adjusted the technical stuff and the caching rules and have turned commenting on again. This will change a few things though, first you will unfortunately have to enter your details for every comment you post instead of having them saved in the form. The second big change is that to try to secure that the server can keep up with pressure from now on we have now some caching setup also for the comments section. This you will notice by a delay in the comments section, it might take up to 10 minutes before your comment is visible for everyone else. More long term we are working on adding a much better commenting system but that is still some time away and we will have to cope with this meanwhile, I hope you will find it good enough while waiting. Because of all these issues lately – If you experience any strange things when posting comments, please let us know!
I know that many of you are eager for the update and the roll-out is progressing, but as stated it is gradual and does take some time.
I now have compiled a list of all the kits that now should be available for you. As said before I don’t really have details on when exactly new kits will be rolled out but many will come during this week and I will keep you posted!
All of our phones have something called a Sales Item number printed on the label on the back of your phone, just next to the unique serial number (IMEI). This Sales Item number should consist of 4 digits, a dash and then 4 digits more. there could also be a .X in the end but that is insignificant for this purpose.
So check which Sales Item number your phone has and then check (ctrl-F on this page should work) the list below to see if you should be available to get the update now.
I think I have seen some of you having issues with PC companion telling you that you already have the update (even though you don’t and it should be available for your kit) so if your number is included here but you still can’t get the update there might be some trouble-shooting needed to get it work. If you have such issues, first check that you don’t a firewall or Virus protection somehow blocking the PC-companion from Internet access. Also you can try removing and re-installing the application or delete the contents in the database folder for Update Service “Program FilesSony EricssonUpdate Servicedb”.
I will update this post as I get more kits confirmed during the week.
*UPDATE 2010-11-11* Some new kits confirmed and added below.
*UPDATE 2010-11-15* More kits added – more coming throughout the week and I will keep you posted!
*UPDATE 2010-11-16* More kits added again.
*UPDATE 2010-11-17* More kits added again, no X10 mini pros today though.
*UPDATE 2010-11-27* This list is not updated any longer, look to the front page of this blog for a fresher post!

Hi Rikard,
I received the update on Saturday. My SI is 1232-2949. Thank you for the update. However I am facing two major issues.
1)The entire UI is very laggy.
2) The battery is draining quicker than it used on 1.6.
Is this normal or will there be a fix released?

Sorry but I don’t have any info on that kit yet.
.
Sam,
That doesn’t sound like it should, sorry! I personally have longer battery time and have seen lots of reports from others of that as well. Have you did your first reboot after the update? Some people seem to experience lagginess etc before their first reboot after the update. Also look through if there are any particular apps consuming battery if you can find a particular app that has suffered from the update in some way even though it sounds unlikely.
.
Heykii,
Yes, finally! I’m truly sorry for this long outage!
Regarding DLNA I don’t have any exact details on the next update yet, neither on what it will contain or exact timing. However I was told already when this update was delayed that it will slip from Q4 into Q1.
You cannot comment any other blog? Could you explain a bit more on what you mean?
.
gozlika,
Sorry I don’t have details on coming kits, have you checked if your “SI-number” is included in the list already? If it isn’t I don’t have any info yet, sorry!

now i finally understand why updateing is going so slow…when it took you a whole week to get back comments , it`s no wonder 2.1 is going on snail speed…according to SE Croatia , in a few weeks…to lough or to cry , the question is now ? i`m totaly dissapointed and 2 years from now i don`t believe that i will make the same mistake buying another SE phone

Rikard,
I am having the same exact problems as Sam… I’ve had the update for maybe a week or two and my x10i is much slower in every respect… it becomes unresponsive on the home screen quite often, it is ridiculously slow to open messages, and the battery does seem to be draining much faster than before… I’ve rebooted several times after the update and within the past two weeks. any suggestions?

your company still sucks. 15 days since release and still more problems than solutions. next time print a hello kitty logo on your poor handsets cause this handsets are for little kids which cant blame your company
SE = Suckers everywhere

Software is great lots of new possibilities (e.g. Skype).
Battery life is much better – guess 20 to 30%. Everything works faster than in 1.6.
To bad that it took that long to get the upgrade, hope next time (if any) it’ll be better.
I look forward to get JIT-Compiler and to be able to install apps on sd-card.
Don’t bother upgrading to Froyo go straight to Gingerbread!
