Today we’ve launched our very own channel in Android Market. We’re the first mobile phone manufacturer to do this and I’m really excited to see what we will be able to use it for. It should start to become available for most of you out there starting from today. It is an operator dependant feature though so it will not be there for all of you but most of you will get it.

What it means is that the “My Apps” option in Android Market is replaced by a link to our specific channel. (Don’t worry – “My Apps” is still available as well if you press the menu key.)
We will use this channel for many things, as a starting point this is our plan:

- Provide recommendations to help you find the best games & apps that enhance your Sony Ericsson ‘most entertaining’ experience.
- Provide a way to easily find original apps from Sony Ericsson such as Timescape plugins etc.
- From time to time offer exclusive games & apps only available in this channel.
- Help our developer partners promote their apps & games giving them a highlighted market space to our consumers.

This will give us a unique opportunity to more easily help consumers finding the stuff that we often get asked about or things that we know really enhances the user experience of our phones.

I’m sure there are more ways we could use this channel going forward so if you have ideas or suggestions on what you think we should do just shout away in the comments section!

    One more question.
The latest article from SE Developer Blog, it says, “Xperia™ X10 is not yet fully optimized for multi-touch.”
Does it mean you are working on improving the multi-touch issue for X10?

Yes, I see it. And it’s already annoying. How do I opt of out this?

This item should be added to the Menu, not replace the ‘My Apps’. I use ‘My Apps’ a lot. I’ll probably use this about once. Ever.

Please fix this quickly. And try to consult with your customers before doing things like this in the future.

    Hi Rikard,
I’m eager for new SE phones. I’m waiting for a dual-core from you, will there be one soon? Maybe till summer? In need of a phone right now, though you released the new Xperia range I want to wait for dual-core. The question is how long?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Gabriel

I feel this is very presumptive of you (some may even say a little arrogant) to replace alter it in this way. I agree it would be better to have it as an extra function on the menu or if possible on the screen, but not to replace a defined feature. You do need to ask customers what they want I think (I still not forgiven you for ‘improving’ the address book by removing the ability to filter via categories!)

Rikard, please please please change this! Give us the “my apps” button back. Add the Sony Ericsson button to the menu instead. This is especially helpful for anyone who’s menu button doesn’t work, or doesn’t work well. I really don’t like this move, good idea, but reverse the button actions please.

yeah, I’m not impressed either – “My Apps” is always the first section of the Market I check (looking for updates) – The list of SE apps aren’t that useful to me on my X10 mini, when a good chunk are timescape plugins that I can’t use.

Maybe I’d be more interested if there were SE specific offers in there (discounts on paid apps, for example)

Yeah I noticed this last night and read about it this morning: http://se-xperia.com/android-market-updated-to-include-sony-ericsson-apps-on-xperia-handsets/ I checked here as well but, this wasn’t posted then. Did you forget to post about it?

So, now all that’s left is to announce the Gingerbread update for Xperia X10 Mini, Xperia 10 Mini Pro and the X8.

Because what was it you said? You want to be number one on Android?
Well then update all your phones, and stop acting this arrogant as you’re doing right now!

Ugh…please put “My Apps” back where it was, and if you must keep this, put this in the menu instead. I use My Apps regularly and will most likely not use this at all. Just makes things more awkward.

So does this mean we will be able to un-install all those pre-installed software we dont need (Roadsync, games etc)? Because you could let users download these apps through the channel if they would ever want to install it again. Please make this happen.
