Hello! My name is Martina Johansson and I’m one of the new bloggers here at the Product Blog together with Cristina Porter. I’ve been sitting next to Rikard Skogberg for the past few years and have followed his work with the blog ever since it was started as the Satio Launch Blog. I’m very excited to cover for him while he is on paternity leave and I’ll do my best to keep you well informed about our products and services.

Hello everyone! I’m Cristina Porter, and with Martina, will be writing on the Product Blog while Rikard is out. Short info about me, I’ve been in Sony Ericsson for some time now, I’m a big fan of gadgets, my phone right now is an Xperia™ arc (and a PLAY, too :D ),  and  I am really happy to be here. The Product Blog has always been an important part of what I do in Sony Ericsson, and now that I can be a part of this, I’m really thrilled! I look forward to post about new products, services, launches and listening to your comments!

Martina: I have read through the majority of the past weeks comments on the blog and, needless to say, most of them are about the recent Gingerbread update for Xperia™ X10. I’m glad to see that so many of you are happy with the update! It’s also fantastic to see that, while we’ve been a bit understaffed here at the blog, different forums have done a fantastic job listing the different kits being upgraded. If you still wonder if the upgrade is available for your kit I can recommend you to have a look at for instance xda-developers. As communicated in Rikard’ s original blog post back in March, the update will first and foremost be made available to generic trade kits. Even if there will be some operator kits getting this upgrade, some of you will not be able to upgrade your customized version of XperiaTM X10.

There are also some questions regarding the possibilities of Backup and Restore. Again, as Rikard said in the original post, the Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client is not supported in the Gingerbread version and will therefore be lost. It could be a good idea to download a third party solution from Android Market to do a back up before you update your phone.

Now that we are two new bloggers giving you the latest news there will probably be a few changes and we would like to take the opportunity to get your input. Why don’t you tell us what kind of Sony Ericsson news you would like to read more about here on the product blog?

Hi Ali, thanks for the welcome and your comment! We know the wait has been long, but please have a little more patience. As Rikard and Martina commented, the roll out has started globally, but the kits are being releases as soon as they are approved, so some will take longer than others. Hope the information helps you!

    Hi Martina and Cristina.
I am a big Sony Ericsson fan. But due to recent xperia x10 gingerbread update, i lost faith on you.
I am using (1237-0692 generic) x10i model. Till now i didn’t get the update. I wonder why you guys don’t give info on release date for these kits.

In the blog you mentioned ” I’m glad to see that so many of you are happy with the update! ”
My question is what about the people who didn’t get the update and at least the info when it will be released for (1237-0692 generic).

Hope you guys will provide the info which all the indian SE fans are expecting. :)

After Rikard Skogberg left, there has been lots of posts with bad language and imposters pretending to be Rikard Skogberg or Mattias Holm. I think that this is a bad thing, and something has to be done about this.

One thought I have is that you could make a list of all employees in Sony Ericsson that post comments on the blog on the right-hand side, like the one that lists the Most Active Commenters. This way it would also be easy to check if there are any official comments from Sony Ericsson.

Furthermore, you need to remove comments with bad language, like Rikard Skogberg used to do.

Other than that, you should update the Poll on the left-hand side and keep up the good work done so far.

One thing I forgot to mention is that you should adobt the layout of the developer blog, when it comes to long articles. The developer blog shows just a few lines of the article and has a Read more-link at the end of the article to see the rest of them. The developer blog is at:

    Hi M & C, and welcome! :)

I know this blog is predominantly meant for Xperia smartphones, but it would be nice if there was an occassional post (with a small video, perhaps) showing off SE feature phones like the upcoming txt.

    Cheers!

Hi there, am hearing news about new update for Xperia Arc, but nothing from Sony Ericsson. Normally, we get a heads up and some info but lately nothing.
Yeah you are understaffed, but can we expect something from the ladies soon?? Not to be rude, or you need to catch up??

    Hello and welcome. :)

Answering your question I would like to read about anything related to SE, just post more often here! Oh, and would be nice if someone could write a short article about that “shatter proof sheet” on every Xperia phone since a lot of people on various SE forums wonder if it’s safe to remove it, some say the glass under is very nice, some say it’s not. Clarify it for us, please. :P

Thanks in advance and good luck in your job!

Hello and welcome both of you…
I am also an X10i-Global GGL generic (1232-9897),using the phone in India…
As most other ppl here, even I have been waiting long for the update, but fail to understand why we didn’t receive the update…I am really very upset over the way SE terribly fails to respond to this issue.
I hope to hear from you soon…waiting desperately for a reply!
    Thank you.

hello Martina Johansson & Christina Porter,
    welcome to the blog..
    1. we’d love to see new pics, teaser videos and specs of new and scheduled to launch phones.
    2. please try and delete the comments which contain awful and filthy language.
    3. please try and answer our humble queries.. i’m also an Indian who has an X10i [1237-0692] who’s still waiting for the 2.3.3 update.. please do give us some information on the delay of update as the awful lack of communication within Sony Ericcson has left us upset and angered as no one seems to provide us with any sort of information.

    Yours Sincerely,

    A sony ericsson fan!

Hi! I would like to know more about availability dates for new phones (specially the xperia ray) in different countries (I’m from Spain).

I would also thank more information about the LiveDock. Could it be used together with a xperia ray to have a hdmi output for a TV?

    Thanks a lot and welcome!
