Xperia™ arc is my current favourite phone and it has almost been glued to my hand for six months now. Apparently I’m not the only one finding it attractive. Xperia™ arc was awarded with EISA award for best European camera phone back in August  and has also won the prestigious red dot product design award. Today, in conjunction to the big IFA fair in Berlin, we are proud to present the new Xperia™ arc S – the fastest and most entertaining Xperia™ phone to date.

Xperia™ arc S comes with a 1.4 Ghz processor compared to 1 Ghz in Xperia arc. It also contains the new photo feature 3D Sweep Panorama presented last week . I’ve tried it out and it’s surprisingly cool! It’s easy to use to. You simply sweep the camera across the objects you want to capture and while you do it you’re guided in the phones camera interface. During the sweep movement the camera will take lots of pictures and then recompute them into a 3D picture. To view the picture in 3D you connect Xperia™ arc S to a 3D TV through the HDMI connector. We’ll try to provide you with a demo on how it works here soon, although in 2D:-)

Xperia™ arc S also comes with Facebook inside Xperia™ 2.0 out of the box. The most important updates from the current version of Facebook inside Xperia™ are that you’ll now be able share games and apps through Facebook, like music from FM radio and see the latest images uploaded by your friends in your phones gallery.

At the same stage in Berlin, Sony also just presented Sony Entertainment Network – a portal to entertainment services including music and movies from the major labels and studios and many independent ones to. Sony Entertainment Network will work across many different devices and for Sony Ericsson consumers (in the markets where the service is available) this means that you’ll get access to a catalogue of over 10 million music tracks from the cloud based subscription Music Unlimited service and all the latest movie releases from the on-demand Video Unlimited service in your Xperia™ phone.

We’ll be back with more info from IFA in Berlin.

Read more about Xperia™ arc S on our website.
As always, you can find the full press release here.

why you rather do not sale globally xperia pro, which had to be released in June? It´s not good news for me and other xperia pro fans, that you rather delay good product and made another and another remakes – neo – neo V, arc – arc S, the next will be PLAY H ??? What number of phones you will announce until release of pro?

This is so disappointing your really not being competitive the most pathetic thing about the arc is it’s 320 mb’s of internal memory and you couldn’t even upgrade that and where’s the front facing camra mean time every one els will have a duel core phone and the arc will be just another pretty face so sad who cares about Facebook it’s a thing of the past now .

lol, if you know anything you should know that dual core is pretty much useless for individual apps performance… Apps are mainly designed for single core use and cannot access the other core. In the market you will be hard pressed to find a dual core capable app.. so enjoy the performance of the dual core phone… I’ll take extra clock speed over another core any day.

Also I had the original X10 (mind you rooted it since 1.6 to go away with moxier and other useless apps – wisepilot looking at you), bought my misses the arc.. she absolutely loves it.. I look forward to this and cant wait to buy it.. Ok im a sony fan boy but that’s because their hardware is actually designed to last… Every time i have tried samsung its died in its arse within 6 months..

Only thing i would consider would be Motorola (they used to have poor post sales support) however with Google that should change and blur will hopefully be expelled.

    Hey Martina,

This is awesome new product, but you are creating classes among Arc, wont that effect your current customer base for Xperia Arc? who have been offered 1 Ghz processor but are happy with it even though you declared front facing camera is not essential and launched it in Xperia Pro. I would then also request you to release the new update soon so that we can have the features along with Xperia Arc release, else it will be as distasteful as Xperia X10 which went a year almost without update and angry consumers…

I love Xperia and cant stop showing off, Need this update soon so that my fren who buys Xperia Arc S shouldn’t make me look like I bought an outdated phone, you know that smartphone market is volatile and we need SE to realize that its customer will stick with it if they stick with their customer’s expectations.

Not comparing, but my 1st phone was SE K550i and moved on to Nokia as SE service was bad in India, I almost bought 8 phones of Nokia till SE entered Android with a Bang!! hence asking you to please not let us down again.

    thank you
    Your customer.

I wld love to get the ARC S in ‘Pure White’ color as I love White colored phones but the specs are way too much / or almost 90% the same as my current ARC in Misty Silver.
So its a waste of money…
Don’t understand y SE release a ‘so called new model’ with the same outlooks with pathetic little specs upgrades to over write the previous model which is less than a yr old.
Its definitely a waste of Xperia supporters’ money n kind of felt cheated…
SE shld release smthing much much better in terms of design n specs than the current ARC to get the users’ support.
I’ll just get the original back cover in White on ebay which is more practical…

As much as i love my arc, why are you coming to market with a single core when all the flagships are dual? the camera is amazing, for sure, but you’re getting spanked on heavy lifting. This would have been a good ORIGINAL arc – a dual core Arc could give the galaxy s II a run for its money…

    hmmmmmmmmmmmm
it is x-pensive but soner always worth the price.
    I love taking picture
and I already own soner k220 k770i and x10 mini pro
the latest one proves once more sony is undefeatable in picture and video quality. The only downside is when i bought it after 6 months the price fall upto 600 thousand rupiahs :(

I’ve never seen anyone who used the front camera. Sorry, but IMO this function is completely unnecessary.
