Xperia pro Silver blog

Trying out the Xperia pro

So, one of the best phones I have tried out this year is the Xperia pro.
Announced at Mobile World Congress, the Xperia pro is launching worldwide now in October.

The slide out QWERTY keyboard on the Xperia pro is really comfortable and the usability is great. Actually,  the Xperia pro’s keyboard is so good, the phone scored 1st place in fastest and most accurate typing tests done by an independent test house.

The Xperia pro also comes with a 3.7″  touch screen, so whenever you use the slide out keyboard, you have the whole screen free to read and preview emails, comments or chat messages.

The pro has another great function: Smart Keyboard. It actually predicts what you want to do in many situations.  For example, sliding out the keyboard while reading an email triggers the phone to asks me if I want to reply, reply all or forward the email (Please note that this function does not work in Gmail).

Another thing I loved on the pro  is the Type & Send widget: you can start typing and then send a message directly from your home screen to wherever you want, email, social networks, SMS, etc. Here is a video that explains the function.

Other things that I really liked about the pro were:

  • Camera quality: 8.1 MP, Exmor R sensor, HD video recording, 3D Sweep Panorama.
  • Business readiness: Great phone for work, it has McAffe Mobile Security installed and excellent synchronization possibilities using Microsoft(R) Exchange ActiveSync, Gmail and other email services. Not only for your email but for contacts, calendars too. Further, with the preinstalled full version of Office Suite Pro you can create, read and edit office documents anywhere.
  • HDMI output, you can use your phone not only to show off your videos and photos, but as as a tool to share presentations or play games from your phone on a HDMI enabled TV or projector.
  • ANT+ technology
  • It’s got a green conscience: Greenheart credentials!

Tell us what do you think of the Xperia pro!

When will the Android update 2.3.4 be coming to the XPERIA Ray,

Just a little history lesson about android, for you all,

The Android version 2.3.3 is over a year old,
The Android version 2.3.4 is over 10 months old

Why does Sony Ericsson, not update the phones sooner, How long does it take to make the jump from
2.3.3 to 2.3.4, from my guess its longer than 10 months, I own the XPERIA Ray and a PS3, and the PS3 system gets more updates than the hole shop of Sony Ericsson phones, you would think there would be more support for a phone, as it leaves the house, gos everywhere you do, it plays games, it browses the net, it takes photos, you can take phone calls or send messages to each other, it does alot more than a PS3 system, so why are you not supporting it Sony, why am i left disappointed, when im not with other products from you, The phones OS is older than the hardware its on

Some time ago SE asked on Facebook, “what would be your ideal Phone?”. I said, my X10 Mini Pro, with a high resolution camera, with zoom, and Android 2.3 or higher (all of these things denied to me on my X10 Mini pro!) I like to think I contributed to this phone existence! i hereby claim my free Xperia Pro!

Well, I’ve had my Xperia pro for a few days and it is more than I expected. Sliding out the keyboard makes it slimmer and on par with the arc. Even without the keyboard it would be a great phone with a good size screen at 3.7″, which is bigger than the 3.5″ the competition is proposing. Having all that screen available for previewing the written text is great. But the full QWERTY keyboard does need some time to get used to it, particularly for typing the numbers or the special symbols.
The prediction function is rather accurate and more than useful as it helps complete words increasing writing speed, though sometimes it chooses the wrong special character option for Romanian.
So it’s a great phone for e-mail, messenger, posting facebook and twitter updates.
Actually it’s also a great camera phone too, the pictures I have taken in daylight are at least comparable with results from brand name compact cameras. In the night, there is no help to the degrading image quality, but the results are quite usable for posting on facebook – for instance my cat sleeping next to me.
So to sum it up: 3.7″ screen, great for typing and more than good camera phone.

Hi, I installed by mistake the search and share widget (t2a-widget.apk) from Xperia Mini Pro to my Xperia Pro (instead of sending it via Bluetooth to my Arc).
How can I restore the original widget in Xperia Pro, since the one from Xperia Mini Pro is not working (the sharing part is broken)
