In late September we announced the rollout of Android 2.3.4 in the Nordic Countries. Today, we’re happy to share the news that the upgrade is starting to roll out all over the rest of the world. Since the Nordic release we have made some additional changes which means that this update is actually new also for the Nordic consumers.
The phones that will get the software update are: Xperia™ arc, Xperia™ PLAY, Xperia™ neo, Xperia™ mini, Xperia™ mini pro, Xperia™ pro, Xperia™ ray, Xperia™ active, Xperia™ neo V, Xperia™ arc S and the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman™. The update will be available for all unlocked phones and most operator variants but there will be local deviations. There are also some deviations on feature upgrade depending on phone model. Google Talk video chat will only be available for phones with front facing camera. Xperia™ PLAY will not get 3D panorama sweep but it will get HD video recording and the other goodies below.

Thanks for the update about Indonesia. For screen capture: make a long press on the power button and you will get four choices: Silent mode, Airplande mode, Power off and Take screen shot.

I also have the device Xperia ray with KIT 1252-1225 in Germany. It´s unbranded and i am not able to update to Android 2.3.4. Neihter with softwareupdate on the Phone, nor with PC-Companion. Can you check on this problem, please?

Hi Martina, Firstly thanks for any info youve given so far, Im sure most posters will find them helpful. Can you give me some help with a quick question? My KIT was released back around November 4th (its now Nov 21st!), KIT No. 1246-9197 Xperia Arc LT15i on network Three Ireland. Unfortunately I still haven’t actually received the update to my handset even though it has been released by SE. Ive tried the manual update on a near daily basis with the handset, PC Companion and SEUS Is this a Network/Carrier issue? If so, why don’t SE put increased pressure on the Network Providers to speed up Update roll-outs? After all it’s SE who is getting the bad press over the slowness of the updating process and it’s SE who will lose customers because of that bad press. Thanks for the reply.

Please provide an update path for Xperia PLAY R800x (Verizon Wireless) users that have unlocked the bootloader. Why does the R800x get no support from SE? I won’t be changing providers but when it comes time I will most likely change phone manufacturers if SE keeps up.

In a nutshell: it is an industry standard that allows mulimedia devices to recognize each other over a LAN or WLAN and provide or play content that way.
On my Arc with Android 2.3.3 I am already using DLNA to view the Arc’s pictures on my TV.
I’m not sure what additional DLNA features the upgrade within 2.3.4 provides.

Hello Martina,
thanks for the updated list… but the number my ray is telling me is not yet there, so neither SE UpdateService, OTA update or PC Companion see an update…
anyway why is the number on the Box and under the Accu (1252-1225) different to the number inside the phone (ST18i_1252-0948) which you can check out with Android Assistent App for example.. this is somehow confusing!

nemusis cakat. Rovnako pohodlne si das najnovsi Android 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.42) do svojho telefonu aj pomocou tejto sluzby (momentalne je poskytovana zadarmo) Urobil som to teraz cez vikend a prebehlo to bez najmensich problemov. S novym Androidom som velmi spokojny.

Ano, viem…problem je v tom, ze sa mi tym zrusi zaruka a zalohovat sa mi povodny firmware nechce. No ak oficialny update pre moje NEO nevydaju, tak si to flashnem Minimalne ked sa bude aktualizovat na ICS..tento flash je isty

If you have the update, then when on the screen you want to capture press the power off key as if turning the phone off/airplane mode etc and you will see the screen capture option there.
