There have been a few questions here on the blog and in our support forums regarding our upgrade plans beyond Gingerbread. We can today confirm that we plan to upgrade the entire 2011 Xperia™ portfolio* to the next version of Android known as Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich. We are working on merging our current Xperia™ experience with the new features in Android 4.0. More detailed information regarding this upgrade, timing and global availability will be communicated in due course here on the blog.
* “2011 Xperia™ Portfolio” refers to the following products: Xperia™ arc and arc S, Xperia™ PLAY, Xperia™ neo and neo V, Xperia™ mini and mini pro, Xperia™ pro, Xperia™ active, Xperia™ ray as well as Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman™

Because the RAM size and platform will not be enough. It was barely good enough for 2.3

We love you SE!
You show the way for how companies should treat their customers and their Android phones. Great launcher too. I find no need for 3′rd party launchers anymore. Thanks for keeping it nice an simple unlike Sense.

Ok, I am happy to hear this
Just would like to have some kind of predicted release date, or are you sending the Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” update at the moment? Will you be sending the update phone type to phone type like Arc to Play to Mini and so on. Or will you be updating them all at once? If you are doing it phone by phone, when will the Xperia Play recieve this update?

I wonder why did not upgraded the X10. the pioneer mobile of sony, which introduced the android on it and made the opening for all mobile xperia, should be treated like this?
On top, is another good mobile that can match its followers Ark etc. And if i got this in mind i think that arc will be “dead”also in about a year! So ehy should i choose Sony again! Hardaware of the phone can handle it ,why sony can not?
I understand that the technology progresses rapidly and the company might first moves by profit, but primarily I would suggest the company to be customer centric, because the client keeps the company where it is. In one way or another (xda) the ice cream SANDWICH will be installed to the phone. Why doesnt the company do it by its own..
anyway..Support your customers. the company will not go back by supporting models that cost dearly and are still very good equipments.
The competition is great, make us believe that in the future should choose again Sony..

That you would update the mini and mini pro with ICS and leave the X10i out in the cold is an insult to those of us who invested heavily in your ‘flagship’ Xperia phone. Surely the hardware specifications that teh minni and min pro enjoys are not on a par with the X10i? I’m quite angered by this news. The people shouted long and loud enough to get a Gingerbread update and you answered the call, and fair dues to you for doing so. Time to step up to the plate again and prove once more that you value your customers. I for one would greatly appreciate it and I’m quite sure that there are thousands more who share my sentiment.
At least, give the X10i owners a good reason why they have not been included in the ICE update list?

I have a Xperia X10 and I am quite angry that SE won’t update the X10 with ICS. If this is the case you should have stopped selling the X10. If the X10 is not included in the update then I for one will never buy a Sony Erricsson phone in future and will tell all my contacts to not at all consider you lot. I urge you to please work towards ugrading all X10 phones.
