We know what it’s like, Christmas is coming and we are all beginning to dream about feverishly ripping the wrapping off some lovely treats from under the tree in just a few weeks time. For some people though, that must seem like an eternity away, so to get things started we wanted to give our lovely Xperia customers a little festive treat of our own to get the celebrations under way.
So, where ever you are in the world, if you have an Xperia smartphone – including and released after Xperia™ X10, except Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro* – from now and until December 31st 2012, you will be able to get a massive 50GB of free cloud storage and sharing from Box. This means that as an Xperia user, you will be able to store, retrieve and edit files you upload to Box through your smartphone, which thanks to Box’s clever synchronisation service will be also available across any device you choose to access your Box account from.
The service is now fully functional and up and running worldwide. Simply download the Box application from the Android Market, log in to your Box account (or create one) from any Xperia Android handset before December 31st 2012, and that’s it! Once you have done that you have 50GB free cloud storage on your account for life.
*Due to limitations, Box is not available for Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro, and devices with Android versions prior to 2.1

A lot of disappointments lately from Sony-Ericsson. No only i did not get the advertise 50 gb space, but i`ve learn that the x10 won`t be updated further then 2.3 OS. Dear SE, this is the last phone Sony-Ericson phone i will ever buy. You should realy think at the customers, i`m using SE since the T-08 mobile phone. The bad part for you is that i`ve convinced and i`m convinsing a lot of people no to buy your products. I think i`m not the only one acticing like this. If you think that by stoping the supot on older models just so you can force the new products, well you are dead wrong.

Not quite accurate unfortunatelly. I do have an Xperia Phone – X10 Mini Pro however there is no such App from Box in Market that is compatible with such Xperia Model.

“This app is incompatible with your SE X10mini.” – Firstly, how can it be incompatible? Secondly, when you make a special available for the Xperia range, you should first check that it is compatible with the Xperia range – surely? I’m sure you can find a way to make the app available to the mini and mini pro. Besides that, great idea. I’ll be thrilled if it works!

Yet to be impressed.
I downloaded the app from the links above to my Xperia Arc but I cant sign in (sso not being enabled?) and when I enter box.com from my computer it says I have 5.0 gb available not 50. When I check my Google account settings it says that I have approved both box.net and box.com for sign-in.

This offer is not valid. It never was. I downloaded the app and did everything as instructed. When I checked the app, it only showed 5.0 GB and not 50 GB. I contacted the developer and this is the reply I got :-
Hi,
Thank you for contacting Box support. Yesterday, Sony Ericsson mistakenly posted a promo offering free 50GB Box accounts to owners of Xperia devices. This offer is not active. We are committed to delivering the best Box mobile experience to all our Android customers, and will hopefully offer this promotion with Sony Ericsson in the near future. We’ll be sure to communicate the promotion via the Box Community, our blog and on Twitter @boxdotnet, if and when it goes live. In the meantime, you can continue to use the Box application on your device and utilize your free 5GB of storage. Sony Ericsson has more details about the error on its blog here: http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/products/2011/11/30/clarification-regrading-box-for-android-mobile-app/
If you have any questions about this, you can contact Sony Ericsson for more info at http://talk.sonyericsson.com/community/support/
Best,
Ryan

How am I meant to download Box for my X10 Mini Pro? There’s no such app on the Android Market, and on the browser version it’s not compatible. I have the Eclair OS on my phone (Android 2.1). So what am I meant to do now?
