Category Archives: test pilots
Let’s start with again saying how overwhelmed I am by all the great people interested in becoming test pilots for Satio. I think we have created a great community here and that is 10% me and 90% you with all your comments, questions and suggestions! Big thanks and kudos to you all!
As some of you commented already, choosing 2 people out of all these great applicants, is almost an impossible task. I would compare it with someone telling me to go into B&H Photo Video (9th ave. 34th st. NYC) and pick up two, but only two!, gadgets for free
. I really would have wanted all of you! (For those of you who haven’t been to B&H I really would recommend that if you’re in NYC – it really is paradise on earth for a camera geek
).
We have also thought about all of you that on an almost hourly basis contribute to this blog’s vitality with comments, questions and answers – the blog is nothing without you and your engagement deserves to be rewarded. We have already come far in planning an initiative which will reward one or two of all of you who really make this blog come alive. Stay tuned, because this will be announced in a few days! Keep up the great work! I’m sure it’s as inspiring to the readers as it is to me!
So – let’s describe what I’ve been looking for in a test pilot. To start out, I want to make clear that I’ve chosen the pilots from the application text, and what I’ve found on the Internet on them only.
First of all, one of the main features of Satio is its camera, therefore I’ve really looked for people that can post a lot of great pictures. Perhaps also pictures that differs in style from my own. Secondly I want them to communicate a lot to the readers of this blog and therefore I needed people with some kind of interests that can inspire to a lot of great stories.
So those were the two main criteria and here are the chosen pilots:
Sandeep Murali (Singapore)
Sandeep was chosen mainly becuase of the link given to photos online. You can check out many great ones at http://sandeepmurali.shutterfly.com/ I really think Sandeep will be able to give us some great action pics! I especially like the way emotion is catched in many of the pictures. Also Working as a CG artist I hope Sandeep should have a very good eye for images in general and also an interest in technology which I think can give us some very good material here!
You find Sandeep’s application post at: http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/satio/2009/09/09/become-a-satio-test-pilot/comment-page-4/#comment-307
Caroline Beavon (Birmingham, UK)
Caroline was chosen because of her communicative lifestyle and her job as a DJ, I’m sure she’ll be able to bring us a lot of those requested low-light pictures with flash and other cools pics from gigs. Also I have great hopes for her really using the Satios functionality for social networking and media sharing.
You find Caroline’s application post at: http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/satio/2009/09/09/become-a-satio-test-pilot/comment-page-5/#comment-568
Please join me in congratulating the two pilots and please help them with inspiration and ideas for things to do in the same great way as you have helped me!
As I am writing this the competition to become one of two Satio test pilots has 206 applicants (or at least comments on the post, however the majority of the comments are applicants) and still a few hours remaining before we close the possibility to apply. All I have to say is WOW! I would never have thought this a week ago when we started the blog, and I am so grateful for all of your engagement.
Unfortunately, the large amount of applicants makes it impossible for me to pick out the winners by today or tomorrow morning. I know I promised this initially, and I am truly sorry for this since I know there are several of you waiting for the answer.
I will sit down tonight and tomorrow, reading all applications, and by Wednesday at the latest I promise you that I will announce the winners.
I want to know how you use the Sony Ericsson Satio and I want you to show the readers of the blog what you think of it, which is why I am announcing a competition to find 2 test pilots.
What is in it for the test pilot?
You get to use the Satio before the launch. Before all your friends, your family and your colleagues. That means bragging rights. You will also get to keep the phone when the test pilot period is over.
What do I want from the test pilot?
I want feedback once a week in written form. I also want you to be an active microblogger/blogger and photographer. I want to use the content you produce with your Satio and publish it in side bar widgets. In other words, you will become a mini blogger within the blog.
What should you do to become one of the test pilots?
Tell me in the comments section what country you live in, what will be your style of communicating through your sidebar blog, and why the readers (and I) will appreciate this. I need this by Monday the 14th September at the latest, because then I will make my decision who will be the test pilots.
