Well, another week has passed and as usual it’s been a big one! Not only did we finally get to hear Michael Jackson’s new album XSCAPE, we gave you a quick intro to getting started with our smartband and LifeLog app – and also shared our financial results from the past year.

First up, our introductory vid sees Becks unboxing smartband, and setting up the LifeLog app. If you’re yet to use your smartband, or you’re thinking of getting your hands on one (… or one around your wrist), it’s well worth a look!

From videos to music now – this week saw the launch of Michael Jackson’s hotly anticipated new album, XSCAPE. Owners of select Xperia smartphones have had the amazing opportunity to download the King of Pop’s fresh tunes through Xperia Lounge, and stream via Sony’s Music Unlimited streaming service in Sony’s WALKMAN app.

In fact, Xperia Lounge has been a great place to be this week. We also presented The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Game, which is available to download for free until 31st May 2014 on select Xperia devices.

Earlier this week Sony Corp announced its financials for the past year, and we’ve created brief run-through of our results below – we caught up with our very own Dennis van Schie (SVP, Sales and Marketing) to tell us a little more about what the results mean for mobile…

“2013 is a year we’re proud of – a real breakthrough year. My personal view is that we turned a corner and demonstrably brought the very best of Sony; hardware, content and network services together to truly make ‘Xperia’ stand out and mean something. The numerous awards, critical acclaim and evident year-on-year business growth is testament to this.

The smartphone business is a fast-paced, ultra-competitive market. But we believe in what we’ve got, and where we can go, so we’re heading into 2014 with renewed confidence and excitement. That excitement is key to what we’re trying to do as Sony Mobile – create engaging experiences and that ‘kando’ emotional connection.

In 2014 we’ll be as unrelenting with our premium line, and you’ll see us bring more great Sony experiences throughout our range. You’ll see further innovation across our smartwear Experience – and even bigger, better and bolder collaborations from across the Sony family!”
