Back in January the WPO announced that it was launching a brand new category for its 2015 Sony World Photography Awards, a category that we at Sony Mobile were quite excited about – a dedicated award for photography shot on a mobile phone.
Well, after just four weeks and more than 10,200 entries a judging panel of photography experts from the World Photography Organisation, including our old friend Anthony Lepinay, decided on a shortlist of 20 seriously talented mobile photography finalists
We’ve collected some of our favourite shortlisted photos in the gallery below, but for a full list, head over to http://worldphoto.org/mobshortlist/ where you can vote by “liking” your favourite image via the Facebook “like” button.
The image with the most “likes” will be named the winner and will be revealed at the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards gala ceremony in London on Thursday 23 April. Hurry up though as voting closes on Tuesday, 17th March.
The 20 shortlisted photographers are:
The deserved, and no doubt talented, winner will receive; a trip to London to attend the Sony World Photography Awards gala ceremony on 23rd April and will also be included in the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition at Somerset House, London from 24th April – 10th May. They’ll also receive a Sony Mobile product bundle including the flagship Xperia™ smartphone and tablet.
We’ll keep you updated on who gets crowned the winner and with any luck we’ll be able to ask them a few questions on the story behind their photo. But in the meantime – go vote!
