Seen as wearable tech is the talk of the town at the minute we thought we’d take the opportunity to focus this edition of App of the Month on one that sits on your wrist – My Tracks
Part of the Google Android apps ecosystem, My Tracks is one step ahead (pun intended) of other ‘running mate’ applications, with native Android Wear support – and (#humblebrag) SmartWatch 3 is currently the only device compatible with the standalone tracking functionality, with its unique in-built GPS sensor.
My Tracks records your running path, speed, distance, and altitude while you walk, run, bike, or do almost anything else outdoors. While recording, you can view your data live, annotate your path and, if you need some encouragement; hear periodic snapshots of your progress.
With My Tracks on SmartWatch 3 you’ll be able to go running without your phone and still keep, erm, track (get it?) of where you’re going… My Tracks will then sync your route and performance stats to your phone when you’ve finished.
My Tracks also lets you sync and share tracks via Google Drive – you can compare / compete with friends or make your running path public and share via social media. What’s more – you can also export your tracks to Google’s My Maps, Spreadsheets, or external storage.
My Tracks is available at the Google Play Store now.
