It’s safe to say 2015 has been a year filled to the brim with exciting news. There hasn’t been a dull moment in our social newsroom; be it world-leading product launches, technical achievements and unrivalled innovation or new partnerships, exciting apps and the latest Android updates.

To celebrate the end of this jam-packed year, we thought it fitting to rewind, reminisce and roundup your favourite posts from 2015, so back to January we go….

1. While you sleep your phone could be curing Alzheimer’s disease

Folding@Home Featured ImageWe started 2015 by welcoming a new collaboration with The Folding@Home lab, a team lead by Dr Vaijay Pande at Stanford University.

Together with Sony they created an app that allows your smartphones to contribute to their folding projects hefty processor time – a considerable achievement considering with half a million-smartphone users running the app we would be more than double power of the whole Folding@Home network!

2. Xperia Z4 Tablet – Will it float?

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it’s an Xperia Z4 Tablet flying high over the beautiful Fira Montjuic in Barcelona. Why, you may ask, did we attach helium balloons to our just announced tablet? Well recap and check out the video below to find out….

3. Sony Mobile and ZMP to Establish Joint Venture

 We head back to July now, when Sony Mobile and ZMP announced ‘Aerosence Inc’ – a partnership set on developing and launching enterprise solutions using autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles for image capture and cloud-based data processing. The collaboration marked another huge achievement within Sony’s new business creation initiatives – so it was certainly worth shouting about!

4. Sony’s Concept for Android™

Another momentous occasion this year was Sony’s Concept for Android – an initiative giving our users the opportunity to be part of helping us develop better software experiences.

5. Why 10:35? – 5 things you didn’t know about Sony 


 We can guarantee that even the greatest Sony fans don’t know it all! So to give you a helping hand we compiled a collection of common questions and fun
facts that you probably won’t know about our world – including how Sony got its name and what its very first product was!

6. Infographic: How fast is 0.03 seconds?


 IFA 2015 now, and it was time for us to introduce our Xperia Z5 series. Boasting the world’s fastest autofocus in a smartphone* we asked just how fast 0.03 seconds really is.

7. #BerlinMoments: Martin Waltz

 We didn’t stop there at IFA 2015. To push the new camera features of our new Xperia Z5 series to the limit we joined forces with one of the best street photographers Martin Waltz, to see what Xperia Z5 is really capable of.

8. Xperia Z5 tops DxOMark Mobile rankings 


UntitledXperia Z5 certainly stole the show this year; especially when in September it topped the DxOMark mobile rankings – the recognised industry standard for camera and lens image quality measurements and ratings. No mean feat!

9. Capturing wildlife photography at dawn with Chaitanya Deshpande 


Nearing the end of the year, award winning wildlife photographer Chaitanya Deshpande took his Z5 in to London’s Richmond Park to capture some stunning wildlife images at dawn with.
