Video game fans among you will know that we’re right in the middle of E3 – the annual gaming expo where publishers and manufacturers show off their latest consoles and games.

Ahead of its E3 conference our friends at PlayStation caught our attention with PlayLink, a range of games controlled using a smartphone.

According to PlayStation’s Michael Denny ‘PlayLink combines your smartphone or tablet device, TV and PS4™ console, with a collection of brand new games that take advantage of the smartphone or tablet device’s touchscreen and camera capabilities.’

Non-gaming friends and family members often aren’t familiar with the DualShock® controller, so we love the idea of using a smartphone to overcome this barrier. The games are designed to play in a group and this new range boasts not only party games, but also more traditionally ‘core’ genres so seems like there is something for everyone.

Check out the launch trailer for PlayLink and the first game to launch ‘That’s You’ which will be free for PS Plus members from July 4th.

Looking forward to the chance to use your smartphone as a controller? Let us know what you think in the comments.
